The Plaza Theatre is a historic building in El Paso, Texas. The theater stands as one of the city's most well-known landmarks, and remains operational today, showing various Broadway productions, musical concerts, and individual performers.
In addition to the 2,050-seat Kendall Kidd Performance Hall, the Plaza Theatre features the 200-seat Philanthropy Theatre and the Alcantar Sky Garden, a delightful rental venue for private receptions, business parties and family gatherings.
Colonial Revival architecture and features intricately painted ceilings, mosaic-tiled floors, decorative metal railings and antique furniture. As one of the remaining atmospheric theaters in the United States, The Plaza conveys the illusion that viewers are seated outdoors in a Spanish courtyard. The stars on the ceiling reflect the Southwestern sky in June. In addition to its rich decor, the Mighty Wurlitzer Blaban III Organ is one of only six ever made. The organ has 1,071 pipes and can simulate 15 different instruments.
DIRECTIONS
The Plaza Theatre Performing Arts Center is next to the Downtown Arts Museum. Take I-10 and exit on the Downtown Convention Center Exit. Go to Santa Fe Street, from the East, you will turn Left on Santa Fe, from the West you will turn Right. Parking will be underneath the Convention Center Facility. From the first level of parking will you exit the parking grounds and cross the street to get to the Plaza Theatre.
The Wyler Aerial Tramway
The Wyler Aerial Tramway is an aerial tramway in El Paso, Texas, United States. The tramway is operated by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department and is located in Franklin Mountains State Park. The tramway complex covers 196 acres (0.79 km2) on the east side of the Franklin Mountains. The gondolas travel along two 2600 foot 1 3/8" diameter steel cables to Ranger Peak, 5,632 feet (1,717 m) above sea level. The trip takes about four minutes and lifts riders up 940 vertical feet above the boarding area. From Ranger Peak you can see three states and two countries on a clear day.
